Longtime Central Golf Coaches Estabrook and Schaben Resign

After piloting the Central College women’s golf team to its highest Iowa Conference finish in 16 years, Jodee Schaben has resigned as head coach, one week after it was announced that long time Men’s Golf Coach Charlie Estabrook had also resigned. Schaben led the Dutch for six seasons and was named the league coach of the year last fall after sharing the honor in 2008. Central placed second in the conference tournament and sophomore Sarah Paulson captured her second straight league individual championship. Under Schaben, Central was represented at the NCAA Division III tournament for the first time last May. Estabrook piloted Central to seven Iowa Conference championships, in his 12 seasons as coach including the 2009 crown last spring, and was a five-time league coach of the year. He also guided Central to NCAA Division III tournament appearances in seven of the past nine seasons, Athletics director Al Dorenkamp said the search has begun for a replacement for both a men’s and women’s golf coach.
