All 99 counties in Iowa took part in the Democratic and Republican caucuses this past weekend. In Marion County, both party chairs said they were pleased with the turnout and participation at the event. Democratic party chair Pat Van Zante said approximately 35 people attended the county-wide event in Knoxville; while Republican party chair Irene Blom says a total of 70 residents attended the caucuses , with 25 in Knoxville and 45 in Pella.

Both women added that attendance and participation was strong for an off-election year and said that those present contributed several good planks for their particular party’s platform – which will be presented in March during the county convention.
