Senator Paul McKinley says that the state of Iowa is facing one of the most difficult legislative sessions in state history. He says that due to massive overspending over the past three years the state is facing a nearly $1 billion deficit. McKinley says this deficit is not at the fault of the federal government or those in Washington, it is solely because the state of Iowa overspent. He states that balancing the budget is very critical and raising taxes is not an option as Iowa already has the sixth largest property tax in the nation. McKinley says it is going to take common sense solutions, the creation of jobs and the prevention of spending to get the state back on track financially.
