Pella travels to South Tama tonight for a LHC girl/boy doubleheader. The Pella girls are coming off an exciting road win over PCM Saturday where they were pushed to the final seconds and won the game on free throws 47-45. Coach Jarod Garland says after a few lopsided wins it was nice to see the girls grind out a close win in the final seconds. Garland says South Tama will present some challenges to them tonight that they’ll have to be ready for:

“They (South Tama) played us really tough at our place back in December. They have a couple really big, strong physical post players and they played a pretty good press against us that we struggled with in the first game. We expect it to be probably a low scoring game and hopefully we can take advantage of our quickness and run a bit and get some easy baskets, but we know it’ll be a challenge especially at their place”

Pella beat the Trojans 47-41 in that first game at Pella. Pella is 10-2 on the season and 8-1 in the Little Hawkeye Conference and have won their last four games and debuted at number 15 in the latest Class 3A rankings while South Tama is 4-5 in LHC play. The girls game will tip off at 6:15pm from the Roundhouse in Tama. You can hear live coverage of the girls game with Jamie Brockman and Randy Sikkema on 92.1 FM KRLS and kniakrls.com starting with the pre game at 6pm tonight.
