Central College is one of 19 institutions of higher education in Iowa that will promote an environmental sustainability event at the state capital in Des Moines next month. The schools are members of the Iowa Campus Compact, of which Central College President David Roe serves on the executive board.
The Compact aims to educate students for civic and social responsibility and help improve Iowa’s communities. The Iowa Campus Compact will partner with the University of Iowa’s office of sustainability on a “Going Green” event in Des Moines on March 29th.
Since 2007, more than 250 college students have served in the Iowa Campus Compact AmeriCorps Program, logging more than 75,000 volunteer hours and recruiting an additional 2,500 college students to volunteer.
