The Central College women’s basketball team is hoping that tonight can be the night to end their 15-game losing skid, as the Dutch host Loras College in Iowa Conference play. The Duhawks claimed the last match-up 98-72, which included five players in double figures and 11 3-pointers for Loras. Central women’s Head Coach Jerry Nikkel says the Duhawks’ backcourt will provide a challenge for his young team, but he hopes to counter that with Central’s interior game.

“They only have one true post player, and she’s a freshman, so it’s something that we can take advantage of a little there,” said Nikkel. “On the perimeter, though, they do have very good outside shooters, and they’re experienced. They’re coming at you with two seniors out there, and that’s a lot of experience out there compared with what most teams have.”

Loras is 10-11 overall and 5-7 in the Iowa Conference, while Central comes into the contest with a 2-20 overall mark and just one win in league play. Tip-off from P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium is at 6:00 p.m. tonight in Pella.
