It’s funnel week at the Statehouse in Des Moines. That means Iowa lawmakers have until the end of the week to have all bills out of their committees in order to keep them open for debate. State Representative Jim Van Engelenhoven of Pella says the self-imposed deadline helps keep the legislative process from dragging out too long, and says with a state budget short on revenue, it’s important for lawmakers to handle the most important items and help try and end the session early.
