As we have told you, the Knoxville girls will play Waukon Tuesday night in the class 3A State Quarterfinals. The Indians reside in Allamakee County out of the Northeastern Iowa Conference, and have only lost once to a team from Minnesota this season. Waukon is coached by the legendary Gene Klinge who became the winningest coach in Iowa girl’s basketball history this season. Knoxville coach Jim Utiermarkt does not care about whom it is, he says the Panthers are not backing down from anyone. Waukon has the same record as Knoxville at 23-1 and is ranked number two in class 3A. The Indians won the Northeastern Iowa Conference…they also took home a state championship in 2004.
