The Knoxville School Board submitted their initial proposal for the 2010-2011 master contract at their meeting this week. The Knoxville Education Association, or KEA initially submitted a proposal that included a 6% increase, would have cost the district over half a million dollars. The board’s proposal includes a freeze on all salaries and benefits for the next school year. Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack says with an eye towards the budget concerns that all Iowa schools are facing right now, the board felt the freeze was appropriate at this time. The school board and the KEA will now meet in negotiation sessions to try and come up with an agreement for the master contract.
