Coming up in the current legislative session, lawmakers will debate a piece of legislation submitted by the Department of Natural Resources that would prohibit the feeding of wild animals. Senator Paul McKinley says this bill was so poorly written that it would prohibit several reasonable actions as well, such as fishing with a worm, leech or grub. McKinley adds that these concerns were brought up when the bill was still in committee and the DNR acknowledged the problems, yet the bill was still voted to move forward. He says he hopes that if this piece of legislation ends up being debated that it is straightened out first because it simply does not make sense.
