It’s the beginning of postseason play this evening for the Pella Christian girls, who start their second season with a challenging contest just up Highway 163 at Monroe. PCM got the best of the Eagles with a 9-point win in the second game of the season, but that was a long time ago, and Pella Christian is hoping they’ve improved enough over the course of the season to try and punch their ticket to the next round of the Regional tournament. Eagles’ Head Coach Kevin Van Maanen says with competition likely gridlocked in the paint, it will be important for his backcourt to play well.

“The biggest thing is that our guards are going to have to play extremely well,” says Van Maanen. “Their [PCM] guards are relentless with the defensive pressure and they really extend the defense and play physical, so I think our guards are going to have to have a great game to help our post play out.”

The Pella Christian girls finished the regular season at 13-8 overall, while PCM goes into the tournament-opener carrying a 14-6 overall mark. You can hear the action live from Monroe on 92.1 fm KRLS with Jamie Brockman providing the play-by-play. Coverage starts at 6:45 p.m with tip-off between the Eagles and Mustangs at 7:00 p.m.
