High School football season is still several months away, but a lot of coaches, players and fans are anxiously awaiting the release of the new football districts which will be released later this week. Pella Christian Athletics Director Verlan Nikkel informed KNIA/KRLS this past Friday that they have been notified by the state that Pella Christian will move up to a Class 2A classification for the next two seasons in football. It’s not known yet who the Eagles will be paired with district wise, but several area teams are Class 2A for football including Albia who’s coached by former Pella Christian coach Jerry Staton, Eddyville Blakesburg, and PCM just to name a few. Again Pella Christian was notified last week they will be moving to Class 2A for football the next two seasons and the new districts will be released later this week. We’ll have those district pairings for all of our area teams for you as soon as they are released by the IHSAA. Pella Christian has won the Class 1A District 6 championship the past two seasons under Coach Rich Kacmarynski
