Crime and automotive accidents decreased in the City of Pella in 2009. That’s according to data recently compiled by the Pella Police Department, which showed a 17 percent decrease in overall crime and a 22 percent decline in accidents. Pella Police Chief Michael Marcinkowski says a down year economically may have had some impact on those statistics, but largely credits pro-active law enforcement and increased public visibility for the decrease in both statistical categories.
