Approximately 30 Marion County residents attended this year’s annual storm spotter training Tuesday evening. The class took place at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum and was taught by a meteorologist from the National Weather Service in Des Moines. Attendees were taught how to spot important characteristics of severe weather including strong winds, hail, flash flooding and tornados and were given instructions on how to report severe weather to the National Weather Service. It is important for there to be trained spotters from all areas of the county who can determine whether or not a storm has potential to harm lives or property.
