A solo home run by Jared Lackey ignited a four-run rally in the over the last three innings, but it wasn’t enough for the Central baseball team to overcome an early deficit, as the Dutch fell to St. Scholastica 8-7 on Saturday. The Saints score all eight of their runs in the first four-innings. Ryan Goetzinger started on the mound for Central, with Doug Eisenman finished with four shutout innings in relief.

The Dutch also recorded 16 hits in the game, led by Mike Furlong’s 4-for-5 performance that included two triples and a pair of RBIs. After their spring break trip to Florida, the Central baseball team is now 9-4 going in to the start of Iowa Conference play, which begins Friday in a two-day doubleheader with Wartburg.
