With No. 1 singles player Luke Boyd out due to illness, the Central College men’s tennis team struggled on Saturday, as the Dutch dropped a pair of matches to Wartburg College and Augustana in Waverly. Central fell by a score of 7-2 in both matches.
With Boyd out, the remainder of Central’s players had to move up by one seed, while their opponents were essentially able to move down a notch. The losses drop the Central men’s tennis team to 9-6 overall this season.
The Dutch will now be off for ten days, before returning to the courts with another tough match-up on the road, taking on Division II college Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri.
