Two Marion County basketball coaches have been rewarded for their team’s success this past season. The Iowa Basketball Coaches Association over the weekend named Pella boys coach Mark Core the Class 3A Sub State seven Coach of the year and Knoxville Girls Coach Jim Utiermarkt the class 3A Region seven Coach of the Year. Core led Pella to the class 3A state title game and Utiermarkt led Knoxville to the state tournament for the first time in 35 years.
