Tear down of the old Coastal Mart building on Roche Street between Main and Marion, in order to make room for the new Pocket Park was accomplished this morning. Demolition began at approximately 8:15am, and the building had collapsed by 8:45am. The Pocket Park was designed by former Knoxville Mayor Harv Sprafka and will include a four season appeal including fragrant spring blossoms, summer annuals and perennials, color fall foliage and evergreen trees and shrubs. Sprafka says he hopes they will be able to begin planting by mid to late April.
