Despite a slight decrease in the estimated population in July of 2009, Marion County has seen an overall increase in population in the last decade. That’s according to the latest estimates of the total population, which were released this month by the U.S. Census Bureau. Since the July 2000 census, Marion County’s population has increased by roughly 600 people – or 1.97 percent – to 32,682. The population estimate for 2009 was 92 fewer people than lived in the county 2008.
