Members of the Pella Rural Fire Department were paged to a field fire just southwest of Otley Monday evening.  At approximately 5:47 p.m., a neighbor reported the fire, which was in a cornfield near 1626 Dubuque Drive.

Firefighters used three small trucks – including the Lake Prairie Township Fire Department’s recently acquired “quick attack” brush fighter – along with a pump truck to control the fire. The flames and smoldering stalks were extinguished in less than an hour.  The Pella Ambulance also responded to the scene to provide support.
