Five of Last Year’s Top Six Gone To Graduation Spells Opportunity For This Year’s Pella Boys Tennis Players

The Pella boys tennis team has some definite holes to fill this Spring but Coach Joe Burch is confident they can continue the success they’ve had in years past. Jared Gerber is the only player from last year’s top six returning this season and Burch says he will probably be their number one player, however the rest of the spots are wide open at this point and he says several guys are battling for those positions. Burch says with that many open spots it makes everyone work even harder because they know they have a chance at earning a varsity spot. He says early on they are focusing mostly on trying to be more consistent with their shots. Pella opens their season with three tough road matches April 8th at Oskaloosa, April 9th at Knoxville and April 13th at Boone. Their first home meet will be April 15th with Norwalk.
