The Pella Public Library will host “Food for Fines” next month to allow patrons a chance to pay off their overdue fines by donating non-perishable food items. The program will take place during National Library Week, starting April 12th and running through the 16th. Food items must be in their original containers and not be past their labeled expiration date.

For every food item donated, a dollar in fines will be take off of an account, up to five dollars. The program applies to overdue fines only, and cannot be used against fees for lost or damaged materials or other charges. “Food for Fines” will donate all of the food items collected during National Library Week to the Pella Food Shelf.
