Wednesday marked the last practice this week in Kuyper Gym for the Central College men’s basketball team, who are preparing for Friday’s opening round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament in St. Louis. The Dutch are a best-ever 23-4 going into their match-up with Illinois Wesleyan, and at least some of that success can be credited to the team’s chemistry.

Mark Holan – one of five seniors that make-up the Central starting line-up – says the team has grown together during their time at Central College, and says the group spends as much time together off of the court as they do on it. Holan adds it is that sense of unity that helped strengthen the team and has attributed to their success this season.

The Central men’s basketball team will begin their trek to St. Louis today, before arriving for practice on the University of Washington campus in time to prepare for Friday night’s game with the Titans. The Central men’s opening-round match-up can be heard live on 92.1 fm KRLS with Eric Gotschall providing the call for Friday’s 6 p.m. game.
