Eight area girls basketball players have been recognized by the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association with their All-Region teams. In class 3A Knoxville’s Sam and Alex Abens were All-Regional seven while Pella’s Kelsey Fynhardt was All-Region eight. In class 2A Region eight four players gained honors as Pella Christian’s Jasmin Schelhaas, Pleasantville’s Konner Gordon, and P-C-M’s Shelby Houseman and Taylor Van Roekel made region eight. In Class 1A Region six Twin Cedars’ Lindsay Hoehns was honored for her play. P-C-M Coach Ben Anderson says both Van Roekel and Houseman was key contributors to the Mustangs season. Anderson ads while those two will leave a wide hole to fill…he says the good group returns for next season led by Jordan Wood, who he says really improved as the season went on.
