Around 60 people gathered last night to honor the Knoxville Girls 1949, ’51, 75 and 2010 basketball teams. The program was coordinated by the Knoxville Historic Preservation Commission and took place at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum. Members of each team honored were on hand to share memories, answer questions and explain the role and importance girls basketball had and continues to have on their lives. One common theme was the appreciation the players and coaches had for the Knoxville community and their support of the program.
