The Iowa house and senate have been debating a piece of legislation that would ban acts such as text messaging, instant messaging and emailing while driving. Local Senator Paul McKinley of Chariton says he thinks it’s crazy that people would even consider texting behind the wheel but you cannot legislate common sense. He adds that by passing the bill that would outlaw texting it would make things even more dangerous because drivers would simply hide their phones more, which could be an even bigger distraction.
