An opportunity for area students to learn more about engineering is coming to Pella next month. “Explore Engineering” will invite fifth through eighth grade students from Jasper, Marion and Mahaska counties to take part in a variety of hands on opportunities linked to engineering. The event is organized by the Partnership for Engineering Educational Resources for Schools (PEERS) and is supported by Pella Corporation and 3M, along with all three of Iowa’s state universities.

Students and their parents will have the opportunity to work with robots, tour interactive stations, and learn about opportunities in engineering careers. This is the third year that Pella Corporation has partnered with the state’s public universities, and is the first year for 3M to join.

“Explore Engineering” will take place on April 6th at Pella Corporation’s headquarters in Pella, and students must register by Friday. Registration is free and can be done by sending an e-mail with the student’s information to peers@pella.com. Information necessary to register includes: student’s name, grade and school; parent’s name, e-mail, phone and home address; and the names of everyone attending the event.
