There may still be plenty of snow on the ground, but the management at the Bos Landen Golf Resort are already getting prepared for the upcoming season. The majority of the 2010 Maintenance Plan for the course was approved at Tuesday’s Pella City Council meeting. Pella Assistant City Administrator Michael Marcinkowski says the city’s maximum reimbursement of $90,000 largely goes toward chemicals and fertilizer for the course, which was approved, though expenses for repairs to the cart paths has not yet been okayed.

“There was a $9,000 expense on there. The council has not approved that part of the $90,000 yet, only because with all the snow we’ve had, we weren’t able to get out and see if the repairs to the cart path were needed,” said Marcinkowski. “With the exception of that $9,000, the council approved that expenditure.”

Marcinkowski says the City of Pella has been pleased with the lease agreement with R & R management and feels that their leadership will continue to find ways to improve the course at Bos Landen.

“For those that are anxious to golf, I think that they have probably over the last year seen some major improvements out there, and we’re looking forward to continuing to work with R&R Management Company and we feel that they will continue to make improvements.”

Bos Landen was ranked as Iowa’s #1 course from 1997 to 2001 and was also awarded with Golf Digest magazine’s “Four Star Place to Play” award in 2007.
