The Pella girls soccer team will look to continue their winning ways again this season, while trying to build upon a 2009 season that saw the Little Dutch finish with a record of 13-6 and ended with a a first-round loss to Dallas Center-Grimes in the State Tournament. Pella coach Sam Mate-Kodjo says one of the main goals for the season is for the girls to extend their streak of appearances at State.

“Last year was our seventh [consecutive appearance at state], we’ll try and make this year our eighth,” says Mate-Kodjo. “Every year it gets tougher because our conference gets harder. I hope they’ve improved, and I hope we’ve improved more, because that’s the goal is to get back to state.”

The Pella girls will face one of those difficult challenges right from the start, as the Dutch open the soccer season hosting Dowling Catholic on April 6th.
