Friday was the deadline to file candidacy papers for a state or county office, and three Pella residents will be on the ballot for a seat in the Iowa House of Representatives. Incumbent State Representative Jim Van Engelenhoven of Pella will face Marc Held in the Republican primaries later this year. Held also challenged Van Engelenhoven for the District 71 seat in the 2008 election. Another Pella resident, Pat Van Zante, will be running for the same seat on the Democratic ticket. Primary elections statewide will be held on June 8th of this year.
