Two area residents are among the 210 Iowans that have been appointed by Governor Chet Culver and Lieutenant Governor Patty Judge to serve on various state boards and commissions. George Baugh of Pella was reappointed to serve on the Iowa Economic Development Board, while Leslie Duinick of Monroe is a first-time appointment to the Board of Chiropractic.

In a released statement, Governor Culver said that citizen involvement is essential to the democratic system, and added that he looks forward to working with the appointees as they share their time and expertise in helping Iowa move forward.

Those appointed will begin their terms effective May 1, 2010, pending confirmation by the Iowa Senate.
