America’s newest Poet Laureate will speak at Central College Thursday night as part of the spring semester Geisler Library Writers Reading Series. Kay Ryan is one of California’s most highly regarded poets and has authored several books of poetry. She has also had poems and essays published in numerous magazines, journals and anthologies, and was named to the “It List” by Entertainment Weekly.

Ryan’s visit is made possible by a $7,050 grant from Humanities Iowa. Central’s Giesler Library Writers Reading Series was deemed “exemplary” by Humanities Iowa, which supports projects that invite the discovery of the humanities in interesting and exciting ways.

Kay Ryan will read from several of her works Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Cox-Snow Recital Hall on the Central College campus in Pella. The public is invited to attend the free event.
