The state legislature is scheduled to wrap up this year’s session on Thursday in an attempt to save the state money. Local Senator Paul McKinley is unsure of whether or not that will be possible and states that the savings will be minimal. McKinley says the legislature dealt with several budget bills in the last week including one that raises fines up to 400% for minor traffic violations. He adds that some lawmakers are in a rush to find additional money anywhere they can by raising fees and property taxes and says they may see more of these types of bills as the week continues.
