In their first action since the Dutch Desert Classic in Arizona on March 17th, the Central College men’s golf team picked up the pace on the back nine of the Ironwood Golf Course to pull into the middle of the pack at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational, which started yesterday in Bloomington, Illinois.

The Dutch enter the second day of the tournament in 10th place out of the 24-team field. Central has a team score of 326 and is tied with Edgewood (Wisconsin), and 14 shots off of first-place Nebraska Wesleyan.

Leading the way for the Central men’s golf team is senior Andrew Townsend, who fired a 78 in the opening round and is tied for 12th place in the individual standings. No other player for Central cracked 80 on the par-72 course.

The Illinois Wesleyan tournament concludes today.
