The Central College men’s golf team had four players shoot scores in the 70s and cut 15 strokes from their first-round score on Saturday, as the Dutch rallied on the final day of the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational to take 7th place. The Dutch were in 10th place in the 24-team field after Friday’s opening round of 326, but were able to overcome wet conditions and improve their scores across the board to finish in the top third.

Leading the way for the Central golfers was senior Andrew Townsend, who fired rounds of 78 and 77 on the par-72 Ironwood Golf Course and finished in 16th place in the individual standings. The Central men’s golf team will travel to the Warburg Invitational in Waverly next Saturday and Sunday.
