The Iowa Department of Human Services is continuing to restructure and consolidate their services.  Twenty-three additional county DHS offices, including one in Knoxville, will be converted from full time to part time status, which will limit services to reduced office hours or by appointment.  There is currently a DHS office in each of Iowa’s 99 counties, and with this additional group converting; now over half of them will be operating on a part time status only.  Director Charles Krogmeier says the two main function of the local offices, assistance with benefit programs and child welfare will remain in place.
