Central College is hosting a “Texas-sized” farewell party this weekend to honor and celebrate President David Roe and his wife Betsy. The Roes are planning to move to Dallas, Texas, following David’s retirement as President of the college, and a Texas-themed party will be held on Saturday, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium.

The party will feature several Texas-themed foods, provided by Central Dining Services, along with free entertainment by Central’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Flying Pans Steel Band. Registration is required, and free tickets can be picked up at the Information Booth in the Maytag Student Center by calling 628-9000.

An after-party will for David and Betsy Roe will also be held that night at the Pella Opera House. The celebration will continue from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. that Saturday and feature a live DJ providing the entertainment. The cost to attend the after-party is $15 per person and registration is also required. Those interested can RSVP by purchasing a ticket at the Maytag Student Center or the Pella Opera House.
