The city of Pleasantville has a new Police Chief. Joseph Mrstik assumed the office of Chief Monday. Mrstik is from Mount Vernon, and has a degree in Criminal Justice from Cornell College in Mount Vernon. Mrstik most recently was a police officer with the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids. Prior to his position in Cedar Rapids, he spent three years training Iraqi police officers in Iraq. Mrstik tells KNIA/KRLS news that he is looking forward to working with members of the Pleasantville community in his new position and that those he has met so far have made him feel welcome.
