Girls track and field squads from Pella Christian and PCM took part in yesterday’s Eddyville-Blakesburg Invite, which featured windy, cold conditions, but hot competition on the track. In a tight race for third place, PCM finished just a half point behind Oskaloosa with 83.5 points to finish fourth in the team standings, while the Eagles took fifth place with 72 points. Grinnell won the meat with 135 team points.

PCM’s Stephanie Hayden took first in the 100 meter hurdles, and also captured gold in the sprint medley relay. The Mustangs also had a pair of first place winners in the field events, with Jordan Wood in the long jump and Brilee McWilliams in the discus.

Pella Christian was led by a strong showing from Jasmin Schelhaas, who finished in the top three in all four events she ran in, including a first place finish in the 400 meter dash and second place in the 100 meters. Teammate Lynelle De Bruin also earned a silver medal, finishing second in the 400 meter hurdles.
