Though the decision has been made to close East Elementary, the Knoxville School District has a lot of work ahead of them to have things ready for the upcoming school year. Plans for relocation and reorganization of elementary programs was discussed at last night’s school board meeting. The elementary school principals and school personnel shared information with the board regarding changes in bus schedules, moving of materials and changes in personnel. The closing will result in the termination of 14 positions and 6 additional reductions. Principal Mike Montgomery stated that there is a lot of work to be done but he believes the district is moving in the right direction.
