The Communications Center in the Pella Public Safety Complex is up and running again after a leak in the roof forced the system to be shut down for nearly 14 hours. Pella Police Department Communications Supervisor Marcia Slycord said that quick reactions by Lieutenant Shane Cox and dispatcher Holly Smith helped prevent any damage to the intricate electronic communication system, which allowed the Pella Police Department to resume usual operations at around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

While the Communications Center at the Pella Police Department was disabled, E911 and business calls to the Pella dispatch were seamlessly routed through the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to maintain service to area residents.
