Water Level Crests at Lake Red Rock

High water levels caused by melting snow and rain earlier this spring reached a peak this past week at Lake Red Rock. John Holt, Assistant Operations Manager with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Red Rock tells KNIA/KRLS News that the lake reached a maximum water level of 770.43 feet, which is more than 28 feet above normal water levels. At that point, Lake Red Rock was holding approximately 60 percent of its storage capacity.
As of Friday afternoon, the water level had receded only a few inches, and Holt says it may be a slow process before the lake returns to normal levels. Holt adds that it will be important for the weather to allow Lake Red Rock to discharge all of the stored water from the spring thaw so that it will again be ready to minimize the possibility of flooding during spring rains.
