An opportunity for area residents to safely dispose of old or unwanted appliances will be held Saturday in Pella. Midwest Recovery, Inc. is hosting the appliance clean-up, and Pella Public Works Director Denny Buyert says the event is a great opportunity for people to get rid of a wide assortment of large items.

“The great news is that the list goes on and on,” says Buyert. “A few of the items are dishwashers, refrigerators, washers and dryers, stoves, air conditioners, barbeque grills – we seem to have a lot of those. Also microwaves and dehumidifiers, and another thing that’s kind of handy is that lawn mowers are on the list, and it goes on and on.”

Televisions and computer monitors will also be accepted, though a fee will be charged based on size. With questions about what will be accepted, call 515-957-8000, or visit www.MidwestRecoveryOfIowa.com. A flyer on the event is also available on the Pella City website. No early drop-offs will be accepted for the event, which will run from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Pella Public Works Complex on Truman Road.
