With a young roster again this season, there was a considerable amount of growing done by the Pella Christian boys tennis team. After being swept in several meets to start the season, the Eagles had a breakthrough in Tama in late April. The Pella Christian boys downed South Tama 6-5 on the Trojans’ home courts; something Head Coach Luke Nieuwsma says changed the attitudes of his players for the rest of the season.

“I think that will continue on past the season as well,” said Nieuwsma. “Going into summer I hope they’ll practice on their own, and I also hope to spend some time with them and instruct as much as I can, but that definitely goes a long ways when they start to feel some confidence in themselves.”

The win was the only dual meet victory of the season for the Eagles, who will not lose any players to graduation.
