Republican candidate for governor, Rod Roberts, was in Pella Tuesday afternoon. The fifth-term State Representative from Carroll spoke to a small group of interested residents at the home of Jerry and Dian Van Dalen in Pella. Roberts said the voter make-up of the area was one of the reasons it was important for him to make a return visit to Pella.
“Marion County is especially important, because given the fact that we’re looking at a Republican primary election, there are a significant number of Republicans in this area,” said Roberts. “We certainly want to show that we’re interested in the folks in the Pella, Knoxville and Marion County area; and you have to make decisions about where you spend your time. It’s just very important to me as a candidate that I spend time in Marion County.”
