Central College’s time in the Iowa Conference Baseball Tournament was brief, as another explosive inning by their opposition put the Dutch on the losing end of the score. This time it was No. 4-seeded Coe College that spoiled the fun for Central, as the Kohawks eliminated the Dutch from the tournament with a 10-7 win.

The Dutch started strong, roughing up undefeated Coe pitcher Alec Lews for seven runs in the fourth and fifth inning to go up 7-2, but the Kohawks rattled off seven runs in the sixth inning and added one more in the seventh in a decisive blow. Central senior Ben Tressel had two hits and two runs scored in his final game for the Dutch. Central also loses pitcher Doug Eisenman, first baseman Jason Hassman, third baseman Brad Arends and catcher Blake Smith to graduation.

Despite the exit from the league tournament, it was still a season to be remembered for the Central baseball team, who set a school record for wins in a season, finishing with a 27-14 record.
