Central College’s powerful track and field season has earned a member of the men’s squad Iowa Conference performer of the week honors for the 12th consecutive week. Senior Alex Miller was recognized after finishing first in a 23-runner field in the 800 Meter run last Friday at the windblown Central Open.

In addition to Miller’s recognition, Central women’s track and field multi-athlete Carissa Bentz was named Iowa Conference women’s field athlete of the week after winning the women’s heptathlon for the second straight year. Her score of 4,485 was a career best, ranks seventh in the NCAA this spring, and makes Bentz a provisional qualifier for the NCAA National meet.

Both the Central men’s and women’s track and field squads will compete in the Iowa Conference championships Friday and Saturday at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake.
