The Central College Softball team begins play in the Iowa Conference tournament today which is hosted by conference champion Simpson College in Indianola.     Like most coaches…Dutch hall of fame skipper George Wares wants his team peaking heading into the postseason…and they closed out regular season play by winning 5 of 6 games last week.

The Dutch finished the regular season 27-10 overall and 12-4 in the Iowa Conference which earned them the number three seed in the tournament.  They will face the number six seed Loras at 3pm today.  With a win, the Dutch will come right back at 7pm tonight to face Luther .  If they would lose their first game  to Loras the Dutch would then face an elimination game tomorrow at noon against either Coe, Buena Vista or Simpson.  The Iowa Conference tournament is double elimination and the winner receives the leagues automatic berth in the NCAA Division III National Tournament.  You can hear live coverage of each Dutch game throughout the conference tournament with Trevor Castle on kniakrls.com.
