The Central College men’s golf team finished its second round and survived the cut and advancedto the final 36 holes of the NCAA Division III championships.

After opening with 304 on the par-72 Hershey Links Golf Course Tuesday, the Dutch had tackled the more imposing par-71 Hershey Country Club-East course yesterday, and struggled to a 319 for a 36 hole total of 623. That dropped  Central from sixth after day one to a tie for 20th place in the 37-team field. The top 23 teams continue play the final two days with both remaining rounds at the less threatening Hershey Links course.

Andrew Townsend who was tied for third in the individual standings after day one, shot a one under par on the front nine  but managed only a 45 on the back nine to finish with 80. He now  stands tied for 30th, along with teammate Justin Smool.   Tournament play continues today and wraps up on Friday.
