Central College will make their 22nd appearance in the NCAA Division III National Softball Tournament later this week as they found out yesterday they will be part of the 60 team field.

The 15th ranked Dutch will head back to familiar territory as they will play their Regional tournament at Simpson College in Indianola. Central is seeded fifth and will face fourth seeded Clearmont- Mudd- Scripps in opening round action Thursday at 2pm. Clearmont-Mudd Scripps won the California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship and comes in with a record of 33-8 while the Dutch are 30-12 and finished third in a very tough Iowa Conference that is sending three teams to the National Tournament including Simpson who will be in the lower half of Central’s bracket and Iowa Conference Tournament champions Luther who travels to a Regional in Whitewater, Wisconsin where they are the top seed.

The tournament is a double elimination tournament and will conclude on Sunday. You can follow the Dutch with Trevor Castle providing live coverage on 92.1 FM KRLS and kniakrls.com starting at 2pm Thursday.
